Dr. Louis Bourget holds degrees in physiology, dentistry, oral surgery, and medical research. His training spans Canada, the U.S., and Europe, including advanced studies in cleft lip and palate repair, facial reconstruction, and implant rehabilitation. In addition to practicing in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, he has delivered surgical care through humanitarian missions in Africa and Brazil, supported by the Bourget Foundation.
Dr. Bourget is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. He has spoken at international conferences on cleft surgery, trauma, and facial reconstruction—and continues to help shape the field in Atlantic Canada.
Experienced Nurses and Certified Assistants Working Together
Our surgical team includes experienced nurses and dental assistants who specialize in oral and maxillofacial care. With backgrounds in critical care, operating room support, emergency response, and cosmetic surgery, they bring a wide range of knowledge to each procedure. All surgical staff are DAANCE certified and maintain BLS and ACLS certifications.

Bringing Resources and Expertise to Communities in Need
For more than a decade, the Bourget Foundation has supported medical missions in the developing world—primarily in Benin, Africa. Each year, Dr. Bourget leads surgical teams to provide cleft lip and palate repairs, facial reconstruction, and head and neck surgeries. With donations from hospitals across Canada, the foundation also sends medical equipment and supplies to help local hospitals expand their capabilities.
In collaboration with local partners and healthcare professionals, these missions help build long-term capacity through education, equipment, and surgical care. The impact extends far beyond each trip—shaping sustainable systems and improving access to life-changing treatment.
